 GRID  Maria Andrzejewska and Monika Szewczyk were panelists on an event organised by UNIC Warsaw and the Polish Academy of Sciences. During the event, held as a commemoration of UN Day it the library of the Warsaw University, they were talking about ways in which climate change influences the environment and the role of business in reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.  SDGs Partnership  When the palm tree withered at the Warsaw's de Gaulle Roundabout in June this year, the message was obvious for the most of us: the dangers of air pollution and the global climate crisis are real and affect us all. In October, when the heating season began, the Warsaw palm again reminded us of the air quality.  GRID  Implementation of the project "Science in the City: Building Participatory Urban Learning Community Hubs through Research and Activation" (PULCHRA), co-financed by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 program, has officially started on September 1st. UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre is a part of the project consortium and will be responsible for its implementation in Poland. Get more »
 In the press  Director of the UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre, Maria Andrzejewska, took part in the discussion regarding creating a climate neutral European economy by 2050. Experts, representatives of public administration, business, NGOs and scientific circles analysed the scale of the challenge, requiring changes in producer and consumer behaviour, as well as a just distribution of cost of the transformation.  GRID  The project that took place in the 2015-2017 period in Mazowsze and Lubelszczyzna regions engaged pupils and local communities in researching local nature and mapping potential threats to its state. Its overview was a part of the international conference on climate change and energy security, organised by the RCE (Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development) network which took place on September 13th and 14th in Heraklion (Greece).
