The Municipality of Radom is currently conducting the LIFE project, co-financed from EU funds, concerning ‘Adaptation to climate change through sustainable management of water of the urban area in Radom City’. Nature-based solutions will be implemented in sensitive parts of the city to improve resilience and adaptation to climate change. The overall objective of the planned actions is to build demonstrative “green-blue infrastructure” for managing extreme storm water flows and control local flood risks. It is expected that the project will elaborate a comprehensive best practice guide on adaptation through rainwater management in cities that could be transferred to other Polish cities. Awareness raising and capacity building on climate adaptation through rainwater management constitute other objectives of the project. The actions mentioned above are viewed as a further step towards sustainable development of our city, which started as early as in 2001, when the city of Radom was awarded by the European Union for the programme counteracting air pollution.
