 GRID  The team of educators from the UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre participated in an event organised by ERGO Hestia for its employees. The aim of this Open Day was to promote the idea and sharing knowledge about sustainable development.The event was organised on June 27 in the Gdańsk headquarters of the company and ran under the slogan "Be ECO-logical".  SDGs Partnership  For the last two weeks we have been experiencing unprecedented heat wave in Poland, and across Europe. Many cities are struggling with a water shortage, and the consumption of electricity has risen sharply. At the same time, the most famous tree in Warsaw – a palm tree at the de Gaulle roundabout in the city Centre – withers. It is true that the palm is artificial, but that is why it could be safely 'dried' in order to inspire us to think about climate change.  GRID  On June 16, the 'Kadr' Culture Center hosted a youth climate conference, the participants of which had the opportunity to learn about the current state of knowledge about the climate and the changes that people cause in it. Get more »
 SDGs Partnership  The joint initiative of the UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre and the Veolia Group in Poland and the Veolia Polska Foundation has been added to the list of 180 business activities with the largest positive impact on local communities. The 30 best projects selected by THINKTANK and the Responsible Business Forum (Forum Odpowiedzialnego Biznesu, FOB) in two categories (nationwide and local) will be presented in October this year.  GRID  The Smart City Expo was organized under the honorary patronage of the UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre. Moreover, the discussion during the event was attended by the Centre's director Maria Andrzejewska. The two-day event was accompanied by an exhibition presenting innovative technologies supporting the functioning of a smart city.  SDGs Partnership  Representatives of the UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre participated in a meeting addressed to the local community, and devoted to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the innovative entrepreneurship sector. The inaugural meet-up "Innovations #ForThePlanet" was supposed to be an introduction to the big theme "the Sustainable Development Goals supported by start-ups" which became a leitmotiv of the third (after Rzeszów and Lublin) Samsung-supported incubator.  SDGs Partnership  During an expert debate held on 5th June in the Ministry of the Environment, the director of the UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre, Maria Andrzejewska, presented a declaration of actions to protect the global climate. The declaration will guide the activities of the Centre in the era of climate change. Get more »
 SDGs Partnership  The debate organised on the World Environment Day (June 5) was the focal point of the celebrations in Poland. The theme of the debate refered to the leitmotif of this year's global campaign – the postulate, announced in March 2019 at the UN Environment Programme (UN Environment), calling for global action against air pollution, and thus for action to protect the climate (#BeatAirPollution). This debate and many other events at the World Environment Day, are celebrated in Poland as a part of the Green Ribbon #ForThePlanet campaign. Get more »

 SDGs Partnership  The Climate Conversations' meeting was the first one in a series dedicated to climate concerns. It was organised by the UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre in co-operation with the Embassy of Norway. The meeting initiated activities within the Climate Mission – a new direction in the initiatives undertaken in the "Together for the Environment" SDGs Partnership. The meeting agenda consisted of presentations and a lively discussion between business representatives, public institutions, the media and local government. Get more »
