In Poland, the programme of activities concerning the protection of environment against noise and vibrations is executed only to a limited extent, because of the insufficient funds. These have been decreased in recent years. Significant achievements in this domain result from research done between 1986–1990. They allowed for the development of a set of computerized instructions which made it possible for the State Environmental Inspectorate to control the acoustic state of the environment and to start the introduction of the system of listing the noisy facilities in the environment. It became possible to change bills and executive orders concerning the protection of the environment against noise and vibration. In Poland anti-noise urban screens have been installed (e.g. in Cracow, and in Pludy near Warsaw). We also have anti-vibration tram track foundations (e.g. in Cracow). Numerous evaluations of facilities burdensome to the environment are done and control measurements are conducted. Acoustic maps of airports cities are compiled (e.g. in 1990 the works on the acoustic map of Bydgoszcz were finished).
Unfortunately, because of present financial limitations big difficulties arise with starting new projects.
