Waste Products Introduction

Industrial and municipal wastes are a potential hazard to human health and the environment. Industrial wastes are produced in large quantities and in many cases are very threatening, because they are toxic, inflammable, explosive and carcinogenic. Municipal wastes are a sanitary and epidemiological hazard because of the way they are dispersed throughout human settlements and because of a high content of organic matter that facilitates the spread of disease-causing microorganisms, germ-carrying insects and rodents.

Apart from industry and municipalities, other sectors of the economy produce small amounts of waste, which usually find their way into municipal waste systems. The wastes from agriculture and farming are an exception. Most of them are reused while only some need disposal throughout the country.
